Villanova beats Holy Cross 38-28 in FCS playoffs

VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) — Chris Whitney threw one touchdown and rushed for a score to lead Villanova to a 38-28 win over Holy Cross on Saturday in the first round of the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.
The Wildcats (11-1) will host either McNeese State or New Hampshire in the quarterfinals on Dec. 5. It will be the second consecutive trip to the quarterfinals for Villanova, which lost to James Madison 31-27 last season.

New Hampshire wins 49-13, advances in FCS playoffs

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — R.J. Toman threw three touchdowns and rushed for a score to lead New Hampshire to a 49-13 win over McNeese State on Saturday in the first round of the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.
The Wildcats (10-2) will visit Villanova next Saturday in the quarterfinals. Villanova beat Holy Cross 38-28 earlier in the day.

Richmond beats Elon 16-13

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Eric Warad threw for 140 yards and rushed for a career-high 136 yards to lead Richmond to a 16-13 win over Elon on Saturday in the first round of the Football Championship Subdivision championships.
The Spiders (11-1) will host Appalachian State next Saturday in the quarterfinals. Richmond defeated Appalachian State 33-13 in the quarterfinals last year.

Eastern Washington outlasts Southern Utah, 41-28

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) — Matt Nichols threw for 380 yards and four touchdowns as Eastern Washington rolled up 608 yards in offense to put away the Southern Utah for a 41-28 victory on Saturday.

Alabama defeats Chattanooga 45-0

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Mark Ingram ran for 102 yards and two long touchdowns in the first half, and No. 2 Alabama breezed to a 45-0 win over Chattanooga on Saturday.
The Crimson Tide (11-0) raced to a 35-0 halftime lead and showed no signs of a letdown ahead of games with rival Auburn and No. 1 Florida.
