It’s August, and that means there is only one thing on the minds of sports fans. Football is back, and colleges all around the nation are gearing up for another season.

Here at Weber State University, the football program is starting a new era under new head coach Jay Hill.

Hill became the 11th head coach in the history of the Wildcats football program back in December.

Hill is a former University of Utah assistant coach and brings to WSU a reputation as one of the top recruiters in the West. Hill has worked with three different head coaches during his time at the University of Utah (Kyle Whittingham, Ron McBride and Urban Meyer).

The Wildcats will have a tough task early in the season, as four out of their first five games will be played on the road. The first game of the season will be against one of the “power” conferences in the NCAA as they will take on Arizona State from the PAC-12 on Thursday, Aug. 28 which can be seen on the PAC-12 network.

“Arizona State is a great team,” Hill said. “We are going to have to play great, and have to rebound and show our toughness being able to play first four out of five games on the road it’s a good challenge and we are up for it.”

Last season the Wildcats went 2-12, but Coach Hill has some realistic and high goals as the enters his first season at Weber State.

“Improvement on the scoreboard, and the wins and losses,” Hill said. “Then the next goal would be we want to have a winning season, to compete for the Big Sky Championship, all those things end up being goals but the most important one is we have to go in and play great at Arizona State.”

The Wildcats will have their first home game of the year on Sep. 6 as they will be hitting the field against North Dakota State.
