Faculty Senate highlights

In the Faculty Senate meeting on Thursday, chair Colleen Garside discussed the status of the search for a new president of Weber State University. The Presidential Search Committee interviewed 13 finalists in Salt Lake City on Monday, and, according to Garside, the pool has been narrowed down to five. The five finalists’ names will be made public on Oct. 4 or 5, and the following week they will be interviewed by the Utah Board of Regents. After those final interviews, the selection for the new WSU president will be made mid-October.

The senate approved Ryan Pace and Jim Turner to be appointed to the senate as Goddard School of Business representatives. The senate also approved Pace to represent the Goddard School of Business on the Executive Committee.
