School of music receives donation

Weber State University’s School of Music received some good news this week when they found out the school will be getting a large donation.

The Sid and Mary Foulger School of Music at WSU has received a five million dollar donation from Sid Foulger.

President Ann Millner and Vice President Brad Mortenson and other staff members met with Foulger multiple times over the past year and discussed the possibility of Foulger donating to WSU.

Fougler who expressed his interest to Millner of music and Chinese culture, met with WSU pianist, Fan-Ya Lin agreed to donate the five million dollars over a period of five years

Madonne Miner, dean of the college of arts and humanities said the school can use the donation to help recruit students, staff and maintain the music program at WSU. She said the department is very thankful and excited about the large donation.

There will be a celebration of Foulger’s donation on September 12 at WSU. Foulger will travel from Washington D.C. to Ogden.
