The movie that has been anticipated all year is finally here, and as expected the effects of "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" were incredible and fast-paced, but the rest of the movie did not rise to the same expectations. The pressure must have been on Michael Bay because he added a lot of unneeded filler to lengthen this summer's most anticipated film. The special effects are fantastic. The fight scenes did not disappoint but seemed to blur together when more than one Bot was fighting, making it look like a bunch of twisted metal. This movie, at 147 minutes, is incredibly long and drawn out. The story line is basically the same as the first Transformers film. Sam is trying to move on from the fact that he discovered an alien race, and is trying to start college while keeping his relationship intact. The Decepticons are on the move again with their ancient Bot, The Fallen, who is masterminding a plan to put an end to all Autobots and the Earth, and soon our planet is raging war once again. The first half of this movie takes you through Sam's opening day at college, Sam and Michaela's relationship, tireless jokes from his mother, several robot-on-robot battles, and drama at the military base, leaving you without a chance to soak anything in. Most of the story does not make sense, and the dialogue between Autobots and Decepticons consists of meaningless words and can be confusing. There were two new Autobots introduced and they were intended to be "hip." Instead, for any viewer out of their early teenage years those robots seemed to walk the fine line between being funny and annoying. The plot is pretty good. The story about The Fallen is interesting, and the last quarter of the movie really picks up. There is less forced humor, and a lot more action. Overall rating: Four out of ten. There are a lot of plot holes which make this movie fall way short of the epic film we were all anticipating.
