Everyone defines art differently. At the Ogden Arts Festival, this was obvious. The festival started five years ago.

On the festival's first night, activities included a silent auction, short films shown by the Four Site Film Festival, and an award ceremony for Weber County High School students. They entered paintings, 2D art, photography, varied media, and 3D artwork.

On Saturday, artists offered unique creations in tents set up on 25th Street and in front of Union Station. They consisted of Weber State University students, alumni, and teachers, along with citizens from the surrounding communities selling numerous items, such as paintings, pottery, leatherwork, and wind chimes.

Kyle Guymon, a WSU student, first made pottery in high school.

The photography booths scattered everywhere interested me because I'm minoring in it. I noticed each photograph used a different format. I saw many digital pictures, but each photographer used different subjects. Some ranged from flowers and moose to waterfalls and landscapes. One man showed pictures he developed using an early 1900's style. The sizes of the pictures were the size of the negatives.

I enjoyed the booth with art made from instruments the most. At first, a violin cut in half placed among other instruments shocked me, but I kept looking and began to enjoy the artwork more.

Also on Saturday, musicians played in front of Union Station and near the intersection of 25th Street and Lincoln. The bands' music ranged from rock to bluegrass and folk.
