Reclaiming America? Doubtful

Saturday morning, FOX News pundit Glenn Beck strutted across steps of the Lincoln Memorial to address a crowd of thousands gathered in Washington, D.C. The event, a “nonpartisan,” “nonpolitical” rally, drew in conservative activists and featured Sarah Palin as the keynote speaker. But that’s not what is important. While it may now be accepted that the world is not the center of the universe, other crippling paradigms lurk in the medical field, according to Weber State University graduate and orthopedic surgeon David Joos.

Challenge in diversity

Students adapt to new cultures to succeed in classroom

When a student refuses to look a professor in the eye, the professor may think the student is being disrespectful.  In some cultures, however, it is considered an act of defiance to look into the eyes of the person who is disciplining you.

Pertinent Position

Montana still the best in the Big Sky Conference

I’m excited for Saturday. Beyond the fact that it’s the weekend, the WSU football team will play its first home game. Even more, Saturday opens conference play for the Wildcats, hosting the University of Northern Colorado. I think it’s fitting, then, to give my breakdown of the Big Sky Conference. And since — for some reason beyond my understanding — I wasn’t invited to be part of the preseason voting, I’ll share what my rankings would have been.

A Play In A Day

Performing arts students write and act out play in just 24 hours

Lights up on a modern-day suburban home. It is quiet. We see a crying Batman enter stage right, holding a box of tissues in one hand and a glass of water in the other. As he lies down on the couch, the Joker enters with a clipboard in hand. He takes a seat in the chair and makes a pencil disappear. Batman begins perforating tissue after tissue. Upstage left enters a nun who has a problem with excessive drooling and windiness. She is carrying a Bible. Batman’s psychiatric session has now begun.

The desert isn’t blooming; it’s drowning. Over the past two months, Pakistan’s annual monsoon rains have swallowed an estimated 20 percent of the nation in floodwaters. These floods — floods that have killed more than 1,700 people and impacted an estimated 21 million — are growing in severity as more and more are left without food or shelter.
